Wedding Ceremony Venues in Logan
Logan City Council provide a wedding brochure which lists their most popular wedding parks, some of which I have summarised below with details regarding each park.
Alexander Clark Park in Dewar Drive at Loganholme is situated on a peninsula of the Logan River. The lower level of Alexander Clark Park makes a picturesque backdrop for any ceremony. Over the years I have conducted many Naming Ceremonies in this park which was chosen by families because of the large amount of shade and safe playground areas for children of all ages. With plenty of parking and an enormous park area which provides privacy for special occasions, Alexander Clark Park is highly recommended by your local marriage celebrant.
Berrinba Wetlands, Wayne Goss Drive, Browns Plains allows you to get close to nature and learn more about the natural environment at Berrinba. SouthWest 1 highlights the best of local flora and fauna, with a key focus on preserving the environment for future generations. It is a nature lover's haven in the heart of Logan. There is also the facility to hire chairs and tables to have your alfresco reception there as well. The venue boasts –
- 8.5 km of walkways and bike tracks.
- An interpretive centre featuring interactive LCD screens and viewing platform.
- Five substantial bridges providing safe human movement around the entire site.
- A large variety of bird and animal species living right in our own backyard.
- The development is centrally located between Brisbane, Gold Coast and Ipswich. It has access to a first-class road infrastructure network (Logan Motorway) and access to public transport (trains and buses)
- 430,000 Australian native plants including 20,000 shrubs and trees.
- Bridge 4's 80 metre span (including elevated approaches) over the Scrubby Creek floodplain. It is 28 metres high and one of the highlights of the site.
- Only 40 hectares of the 120 hectare site is being developed. The remaining 80 hectares are being protected and rehabilitated.
Concourse Park, Underwood is set in the quiet streets of “The Domain” estate at Kuraby. Concourse Park offers a lovely bushland setting ideal for an outdoor wedding. There is also a dam with a viewing platform and a gazebo. The lush bushland setting which is off the main roads, provides a tranquil setting for couples seeking a small intimate wedding location.
Forestglen Park at Parkland Avenue Browns Plains offers an ideal wedding location. It has good off street parking and is easily accessible. It is set far enough back from the road to provide privacy from passing traffic. Forest Glen Park boasts a purpose-built gazebo and water features making it one of the most popular parks for weddings in the area. Forestglen Park is beautifully landscaped, which creates a romantic setting and offers the perfect backdrop for stunning photography.
Lancaster Park, located on the corner Kingston-Beenleigh Road and Chambers Flat Road, Waterford West is sometimes referred to as “The Rose Garden”. Lancaster Park is a very popular choice for weddings due to the magnificent roses throughout the entire park. Located on the corner of two main roads, this park centrally located however traffic noise can be a problem depending upon the time of your ceremony. The roses are pruned from mid June to the end of September each year and therefore there is no guarantee of roses if you have your ceremony around that time.
As a local marriage celebrant I have performed numerous weddings and baby naming at this location.
Logan Gardens – Civic Parade, Logan Central is situated close to Wembley Falls, Logan Gardens is an attractive landscaped park. There are many charming grassy spots under large gums, which provide ideal locations for a ceremony. There are also plenty of photo opportunities within the park.
Logan West Gardens - Wineglass Drive, Hillcrest is a magnificent landscaped rock garden and features a gazebo which makes this an ideal location for a wedding ceremony and photos. It is located adjacent to the Logan West Community Centre, which is great for a wedding reception, avoiding the need for travel by the wedding party or guests.
Old Beenleigh Town is located 189 Main Street, Beenleigh and has over 20 buildings on site with historical significance. They include the original church, school, boot-makers shop, railway station, post office, jail, council chambers, and several old cottages.
The village's homes are museums within themselves, with old furniture and equipment on display. Many couples like the idea of getting married in a church but with the flexibility of their own marriage celebrant. The old original church is an option and the other old buildings on site provide a wealth of photo opportunities.
Riverdale Park - Armstrong Road, Meadowbrook is set out over a small lagoon and has a floating gazebo. This area creates an intimate area for a ceremony, with ample space on the banks for your guests. Riverdale Park is a large, open park and features a second spacious gazebo on the hill.
One memorable wedding was performed on the floating gazebo. The bridal party was assembled inside the gazebo with guests gathered around the grassy surrounding banks. The floor boards have a very small space between each one. The groom had been warning the very young pageboy to treat his ring pillow with respect and not as a flying missile. Well you guessed it. No one noticed until it was time for the presention of the rings to the couple and it was seen that the brides diamond encrusted wedding ring was nowhere to be found on the pillow or elsewhere. An ever helpful bridesmaid handed over her wedding ring so that the couple actually had rings to exchange with each other.
I was later informed that several days of searching with a metal detector found the treasured item amongst the mud.
As an authorised celebrant who has performed numerous baby naming ceremonies at this particular park I can advise that there are a number of areas, some close to water and others further away which offer parking, shade, and good facilities for little ones making it an ideal location for a baby naming.
To secure your area, you need to be there early but that slight inconvenience is very worthwhile to have such a pleasant location for your event.
Springwood Park in Cindarella Drive is a beautiful tropical garden and the lush, manicured lawns make it a popular choice for many couples for their wedding day. With plenty of parking and situated centrally to reception venues at nearby hotels, Springwood Park is an excellent choice.
Underwood Park on Underwood Road at Priestdale. This park features a small gazebo set behind a pretty lagoon, which has a decorative bridge that doubles as a stylish ‘aisle’ for the bride’s grand entrance. Further along Underwood Road is Underwood Lagoon, a large wetland area that has a boardwalk and viewing platform, and makes an excellent backdrop for photos and has plenty of parking.
Wembley Falls Park - Corner Wembley and Station Roads, Logan Central has been a consideration for weddings by couples in the past. However with little parking and situated on a very busy intersection, this would not be my park of choice for the actual ceremony. However with a charming waterfall and a pretty gazebo, Wembley Falls Park is fabulous for photos. The park has a lovely grassed area and landscaped gardens to compliment the waterfall.
