Does your Celebrant hold a current First Aid Certificate?
Fri, 3 Jan 2014
Civil Marriage Celebrants in Queensland must abide by a very strict set of guidelines, provided by The Marriage Act. All civil celebrants are appointed by the Attorney General's Department in Canberra. Celebrants are required to undertake annual ongoing professional development to retain their registration.
There is a current view that all celebrants should be the holder of a current First Aid certificate. Weddings can be stressful events for some and often guests present with medical conditions. Your marriage celebrant should request information from you concerning anyone who will be in attendance with special medical needs.
Oftentimes ceremonies are held in remote locations where either phone reception is poor or it is some distance to medical aid. Knowing that your celebrant holds a current First Aid certificate provides assurance that should any unforeseen incident arise, that there is someone present who can provide assistance as required.
As your professional civil marriage celebrant in Brisbane, I am the holder of a current First Aid Certificate.
